SPEECHA is your Podcast community to find, tag and share Podcasts with your
friends.
-
You can find the Podcast you are looking for – in your neighborhood and
from your friends. You can search Podcasts about specific topics you are interested
in, or you can check out the Podcasts your friends like. The SPEECHA database
includes 23,151 Podcasts with 593,973 Audio and
90,537 Video Episodes,
and it's growing more and more. You can organize
your favorite Podcasts in Playlists and you can subscribe Podcasts to have
them automatically updated. The SPEECHA community helps you to identify interesting
podcasts by rating them or by writing reviews. Moreover, based on your own
subscriptions and ratings, SPEECHA will find podcasts you may like, and you
will receive recommendations. Overall, SPEECHA is the best way to find, share
and organize Podcasts. You won't need anything else!
-
Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs
or music videos, over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication
formats, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers.
In general you can consider Podcasting as some kind of radio broadcasting on demand: You don't have to wait for an interesting radio show to be broadcasted; you can listen to it whenever you want, wherever you are. There are many Podcast providers – so called Channels (comparable to different radio stations). Each channel consists of different Episodes (like a single radio show provided by a specific radio station).
-
Channels are Podcast providers, similar to a radio station.
In each Channel you can find several audio files (Episodes). Channels are organized by categories or tagged with keywords by the users, to help you find the Podcasts you are interested in. You can subscribe to a Channel to receive updates.
-
Episodes are the audio files you can actually listen to (comparable with the
episodes of a TV series). Each Channel consists of one ore more Episodes. You
can add Episodes (from different Channels) to a Playlist.
-
There are several options to play a Podcast:
You can play an Episode or an entire Channel with all its Episodes online by clicking on the Play Button of the Channel or Episode.
Moreover you can add Episodes (also from different Channels) to a Playlist, and then play the entire Playlist by clicking on the Play Button for this Playlist. You can also play the Playlists created by other SPEECHA Members.
If you don't want to play the Podcast or Playlist online, you can also synchronize it with your iPod by clicking on the iPod Icon
. Or you can open the audio file
in Windows Media Player (by clicking on the Windows Media Player Button
) or
in Winamp (by clicking on the Winamp Button
). Another option is to copy the
RSS-Feed of the Podcast or Playlist, to import it to another application (by
right-clicking on the RSS Button
and choosing "Copy Link").
-
A Playlist is a collection of Episodes from one ore more different Channels.
You can create your own playlists to organize Podcasts thematically. You can
also play the Playlists created by other SPEECHA Members.
By default every Member has one Playlist called "My Playlist". Of
course you can rename this Playlist or add more Playlists with new names in
the "manage Playlists" area.
-
Once you found an interesting Episode, you can easily add it to your Playlist
by clicking the "Add to my Playlist" Button. If you already created
more than one Playlist, you can choose from a drop-down menu, to which Playlist
you want to add the Episode.
-
You can edit (e.g. rename or delete) your Playlists in the "manage Playlists" area.
It is also possible to delete only specific Episodes from your Playlist by
clicking the "delete" button provided for the Episode on your Playlist
Page.
-
A Tag is a keyword for a Podcast. This keyword is a reference regarding the
content of the Podcast (e.g. a Podcast about macrobiotic cooking could have
the following Tags: "Food, Health, Cooking, Macrobiotics, Recipes...).
A Tag should be a generic term since the aim is to classify different Podcasts
within one Tag. Therefore, a Tag is not necessarily the title of the Podcast
(if this is too specific). You can tag a Podcast with your personal keywords
(Tags). This helps you to organize the Podcast you are interested in. You benefit
additionally from the tags of the community.
-
You can add tags for channels or episodes by adding your text and clicking
on
You can add several tags at once, by separating the text with space (e.g. Travel Vacation will produce two tags). A tag containing two words can be added in quotes (e.g. "San Francisco" will produce the tag San Francisco).
You can delete and edit (e.g. rename) your Tags in the right pane of the My Page under My Tags –> Manage Tags. Deleting Tags here will delete these Tags for all Channels and Episodes. You can delete a Tag only from one specific Podcast, if you click in My Tags on the the tag and then click on [Edit].
-
You can write a comment about specific Podcasts (Channels or single Episodes).
This is similar to book reviews. This information is very helpful for the community
to identify the value of a podcast. Writing Comments also increases your SPEECHAs.
How can I write a comment?
You can write a comment in the lower right pane of the selected Channel or Episode under "Comments". Your comment will be visible for everybody, in the Comments area.
-
You can delete your own comments by clicking on the delete button under your comment.
-
Categories are content related classifications for Podcasts, provided by the
Channel author itself. It is not possible to change the category of a Channel
or Episode.
-
SPEECHA is in the BETA phase. Our database of Podcasts is growing more and
more. You can help us to improve our service by adding new Podcasts.
-
At Add Channel
you can add a Podcast Channel
by inserting the RSS Feed of the Channel you want to add. For this purpose
you must visit the Website of the Podcast you want to add. Search for a Button
or a Link called "RSS-Feed" or simply "RSS". You can either
right-click on the Link and choose "Copy Link", or you can click
the Link or Button and then copy the URL from the browser. Make sure the Link
contains an .xml extension. Then, paste the Link into the input area
at Add Channel to add the RSS-Feed.
Typical icons for RSS-Feeds:

-
RSS is a family of web feed formats, specified in XML and used for Web syndication.
RSS is used by (among other things) News Websites, Weblogs and Podcasting.
You can subscribe to such an RSS-Feed to get updates of this Information-Feed
automatically.
Typical icons for RSS-Feeds:
-
It is possible that the Podcast is already listed in SPEECHA. In this case
you will see a message stating that the Channel already exists. Another source
of error could be an incorrect RSS-Feed. Check the "How can I add a Podcast?"
section, whether you have copied the correct RSS-Feed from the Podcast's website.
If in doubt, don't hesitate to contact us – we will try to fix the problem asap.
-
Send us a feedback message – we will take care of the

-

users of the SPEECHA community , as well
as a list of 5 new members, which have recently registered.
-
You can browse Podcasts and share them with your friends. Visit your friends'
websites and see their Playlists and Tags. Send and receive messages from your
friends. If you find a new or interesting Podcast you can share it with your
friends. Moreover you can easily invite new friends to the service.
-
You can easily invite new members by sending
them an e-mail invitation. You can add existing members to your contact list
by visiting the chosen member's page and click on the button "Add to my
contacts".
-

Podcast.
-

synchronize them with your iPod. So you can easily enjoy your favorite Podcasts
everywhere.
-
You can use the Search to find Channels, Podcasts
and Members by keyword. Additionally, a specific search is available on every
SPEECHA page, in the upper left area of the page. E.g. if you are on the Members
Page, you can enter any name to look for a SPEECHA Member, there. And while
you are on the Channel page, you can enter any keyword at the same place, to
find Podcasts with this keyword.
-
One of the highlights is the localization of a Podcast. You can geo tag a Podcast
with geographical information. In a graphic map you can browse and search for
local content or users. This feature is very helpful if you are looking for
Podcasts with information about a specific location (e.g. if you are planning
to travel to London, you can easily find Podcasts that somehow deal with London).
Also every SPEECHA Member has a location, which is automatically allocated
by SPEECHA upon signup (extracted from the IP address). Of course it is always
possible to change or delete your location later.
-
Simply go to the Geo Site and enter any location
you are interested in (e.g. London). The map will automatically rearrange and
display the desired area. Now you can display all Members, Channels or Episodes
associated with the location, by checking the respective boxes underneath the
map.
-
You can enter Geo Tags for Channels and Episodes. Go to the right pane of the
Channel's or Episode's page. Under "Locations" you can see the locations
already tagged to this Podcast (if there are any). By clicking on the button "Add
Location" you are redirected to the Geo map. Simply write an address (country,
state, city, zip code or street address; e.g. San Francisco Lombard Street).
The location then appears on the map. To save this information click on the
confirm button. If the address is not found by the system, you can also click
directly on the map, where you want to allocate the Tag for the selected Podcast.
-
You can enter Geo Tags for yourself. Simply write your country, state, city,
zip code or street address (e.g. San Francisco, Lombard Street). To save this
information click on the confirm button.
-
You can see the hot and most active channels, episodes or users by the so called "SPEECHAs".
This reflects the activity and importance of the content. Channels with many
SPEECHAs indicate that these Channels are rated good by the community, and
that they are well-kept by the authors (e.g. regularly updated). Members with
many SPEECHAs indicate, that the Member is very active within the community
(in terms of rating, tagging, and subscribing).
-
The amount of SPEECHAs for a user depends on different factors: the amount
of Channels you subscribe, the amount of Episodes that you add to playlists,
as well as your rating and tagging activity. In general: the more active you
are in the SPEECHA community (by subscribing, tagging and rating) – the
more SPEECHAs you will get.
-
Of course you can browse the SPEECHA database and listen to Podcasts without
a SPEECHA account. However, signing up has many advantages: With your own account
you can create playlists, rember Podcasts by tags, create your own member profile, and
synchronize Podcasts and Playlists with your iPod. Moreover, you get personal
recommendations according your ratings. Also you can start creating
your community by inviting friends and chat with other members of the community
by sending and receiving messages.
-
You can change your profile under My Account
-
You can terminate your SPEECHA Account at any time, by simply clicking the "delete
my account" button in My Account
-
Nothing! It is all for free!
- We do not plan to introduce any charges for the current SPEECHA Service.
